Company Profile
Instro GP Field Services has essentially evolved out of a company called Viatech Pty Ltd which was incorporated in 1986 and closed in March 2016.
Peter McDougall (Owner/Working Manager of Instro GP Pty Ltd) had worked for Viatech for some thirty (30) years after completing his apprenticeship in Instrumentation and Electronics. Peter has been responsible for “field service operations” and has travelled to a large number of remote mine sites and process plants across the state by road covering many thousands of kilometres per month and provides support which is impossible by air.
Instro GP Field Services provides supply, calibration and maintenance of conveyor belt weighing systems, bin and silo level systems, tank level and temperature instrumentation and a custom design service to create devices for applications which currently have no “off the shelf” solutions available.
In support of the weightometer calibration service, we work with a local Engineering Company to manufacture precision roller calibration chains and automated deployment systems to suit client requirements ensuring optimum achievable weightometer accuracy is obtained. Additionally we are able to provide NATA traceable certification and a refurbishment service of these calibration chains is also available.
We repair a vast array of electronics and other instrumentation and specialise in rebuilding or refurbishing devices which have failed due to age but have potential to provide another “life” if given a properly designed rebuild. Where repair of unusual devices is impossible, we can provide custom built “reverse engineered” solutions which can often enhance the original concept.
Instro GP Field Services / Viatech’s client base has included companies such as Alcoa (since 1980), Western Mining, Rio Tinto's Dampier Salt, Newcrest Telfer Mine, Newmont Boddington Gold Mine, Barrick/Goldfields, St Barbara Ltd, Ramelius Resources, Mt Gibson Mining, Anglo Gold Ashanti, Regis Resources, United Farmers, Summit Fertilisers and many other major and minor organisations involved in mining and material handling.
We hold an extensive archival history dating back to the early 1980's which has been invaluable at times in resolving queries in relation to weightometer accuracy and stability.
We can provide onsite training for belt weighing systems and are available at almost any time to provide telephone support for site personnel.
Instro GP Field Services offer a stable, competent and innovative workforce who relish a challenge and appreciate the vastly different needs of our client base. Our technical service people are all full time and experienced allowing us to produce solutions for our customers more efficiently and protecting their investment in the plant specific knowledge we acquire.
The company has full insurance coverage in respect of accident, workers compensation and liability. Details of coverage for contractual purposes can be provided on request. We rarely advertise and find that the vast majority of our work is derived by recommendations from past clients many of whom have been valued customers for many years
